It's the late 1980s, when Wall Street is riding high, and it seems as if the entire country is cashing in on the bumper profits. Disgusted with the materialism that surrounds him, Matt Franklin (TOPHER GRACE) a brilliant young MIT graduate, has walked out on his well-paid position at a local lab and taken a low-level job as a video clerk, much to his father Bill's consternation. And the crises keep piling up in Matt's life. His best buddy Barry has just gotten fired from his job, his brainy sister Wendy is getting hitched to her vapid boyfriend Kyle, and the gorgeous Tori Frederking, long-time object of Matt's unattainable adoration, is suddenly back in the picture. Now, on one wild, woolly and irresponsible evening, everything is coming to a head, with explosive results.
ThinkTalk will be interviewing Topher Grace and Dan Fogler on February 11th, 2011.
Topher was raised in Darien, Connecticut. He attended school in Massachusetts for two years, where he began his acting career in such musicals as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "The Pirates of Penzance." He attended New Hampshire's Brewster Academy and the University of Southern California.Grace dropped out of USC to start his show business career in "That '70s Show" (1998) at age 20. He was cast in that show because the show's creators, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, saw him act in a high-school play--their daughter attended same high school. Apart from school plays, Grace had absolutely no acting experience before landing the role of Eric Forman.
Dan Fogler, the cherubic actor and singer, was born Oct. 20, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of a surgeon and his English teacher mother. His brother Jason is a clinical-psychologist. Fogler established himself with his role of William Barfee in the Broadway musical hit "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." His performance brought Fogler a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor (Musical), a Theatre World Award, Outer Circle Award and a Drama Desk Award as part of the Outstanding Ensemble Performance. He also received The Lortel Award for Spelling Bee's off-Broadway run. The show was his Broadway debut, and he played the part on Broadway for nine and one half months. Fogler,as part of The Farm Acting troupe, had helped originate the show and created the character of William Morris Barfee as the improvisational Off-Off Broadway play "C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E in 2002."
The hit musical has jump-started his film career, and Fogler starred in the comedy Balls of Fury (2007) in 2007. Aside from his other film work, Dan also was honored to be the voice actor for two distinct characters in Horton Hears a Who! He has written a play, "Elephant in The Room," inspired by Ionescos'Rhinoceros (1974)_, which was produced by the New York International Fringe Festival 2007. Fogler also directed the production. He has in addition, written and directed his first film, "Hysterical Psycho." which features actors from his theater company Stage 13 where Dan serves as one of the company's Artistic Directors.
