Conviction

Conviction is the inspirational true story of a brother and sister’s unwavering bond. When Betty Anne Waters’ brother Kenny (Rockwell) is arrested and sentenced to life in prison, she dedicates her life to overturning the conviction and proving his innocence. After an 18 year journey, Waters uncovers facts and utilizes evidence in an attempt to gain her brother’s freedom.
Sam Rockwell stars in Conviction as Kenny, a man sentenced to a lifetime in jail as his sister changes her life to fight for his freedom. Rockwell is the son of two actors and got his first stage experience at the age of 10 alongside of his mother in an East Village improve comedy sketch in New York City. He got his first big break while still in high school in the independent film Clownhouse. After graduation, Rockwell relocated to New York permanently and enrolled in private training at the William Esper Acting Studio. During his time at the acting studio he appeared in after school specials, TV series and plays.
Over the next few years he continued to act in independent films, stage performances, and films that were both commercially successful and not. 1996’s Box of Moon Light gained him the most recognition and would be declared as his break-out role in the industry. It was not a box office hit but generated critical acclaim. Rockwell followed that up by choosing a variety of roles in movies such as Lawn Dogs, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Green Mile, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. More recently he stared in Iron Man 2 and the critically acclaimed science fiction film Moon.
