
Career Highlights
Jon Poll graduated from the University of South California’s film school in 1981 and then went on to become a film editor. Included in the many films Poll’s edited are Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Scary Movie 3 and Austin Powers the Spy Who Shagged Me. He has also acted as executive producer with Judd Apatow on The Forty Year Old Virgin and was co-producer on the television series TV 101 and Eerie Indiana and Sacha Baron Cohen’s Brüno. Poll made his directorial debut in 2007 with the film Charlie Bartlett. For future projects Poll plans on working primarily as a director and already signed on to direct an upcoming comedy starring Anna Faris and a romantic comedy called Off Strategy.
Charlie Bartlett premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was shown at the Cannes Film Market, the Maui Film Festival, and the Cambridge Film Festival before going into theatrical release in the United States and Canada in February 2008. The screenplay by Gustin Nash tells the story of Charlie Bartlett, troubled teen who is having a hard time fitting in at his new high school so he begins to dispense therapeutic advice and prescription drugs to the student body in order to become popular.
