Career Overview

    Known as the ‘Human Beatbox,’ Doug E. Fresh started an international trend in the hip-hop industry with his inventive creation of the beat box style. He became known in the hip-hop world for some early songs that incorporated African and Caribbean beats and became an activist in the music industry; Fresh fought against racism, drugs, illiteracy, police brutality and homelessness in communities around the world. He also serves as a board member of The Artist Empowerment Coalition, fighting for artists’ rights.

    Doug E. Fresh has not only worked with a variety of music celebrities like Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls and P. Diddy, but he has also appeared on film and television and has written music for movies and commercials. He is currently working as a solo artist and writing a book on hip-hop.
