Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in Redbelt, the story of a Jiu-Jitsu teacher who shuns competition and leads an honorable life operating a self-defense studio. The film is written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker David Mamet and starts Rodrigo Santoro, Emily Mortimer and Tim Allen.
Chiwetel Ejiofor developed his acting skills at a young age, first attending Dulwich College in London and then the National Youth Theatre where he sharpened his acting skills. He then attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic arts where he established himself as a formidable stage talent. His acting skills led him to a new medium, television, where he debuted on film in the 1996 made-for-TV movie Deadly Voyage.
Ejiofor’s talent caught the attention of director Steven Spielberg and Spielberg cast Ejiofor in his historical drama Amistad. His first leading role came in 2002’s Dirty Pretty Things, which won him a British Independent Film Award for best actor. Ejiofor continued acting on film and screen, gaining note-worthy roles and winning awards. His next project is set to be released in November 2009, Ejiofor will portray White House scientific advisor Adrian Helmsley.
