Adam Sterling graduated from UCLA in 2006 with degrees in African-American studies and Political Science. While attending UCLA, Sterling led a student movement for Sudan, organizing divestment efforts at UCLA and in the state of California. He currently serves as the director of the Sudan Divestment Task Force, a project of the Genocide Intervention Network, and has received a number of humanitarian awards.
Sterling not only serves as an advisor on Sudan investment issues but also presented a bill to Governor Schwarzenegger to reduce the effects of genocide on he Sudanese. Sterling’s writings have been published extensively in the press and he has appeared in a number of broadcast news programs. Sterling also appeared in the 2007 documentary, Darfur Now, as himself.
Adam joined ThinkTalk Host Zack Sherwood to discuss his career with the Sudan Divestment Task Force and his appearance in Ted Braun's Darfur Now. Adam answered questions from University of Maryland students Edward, Joi and Stanley, providing advice for a career in social activism.
