Starting the New Year in a new home: our newest intern Erick's welcome entry

STARTING THE NEW YEAR IN A NEW HOME

New Year, new coast, new experiences—that pretty much sums up my first week of 2012 as I left the West Coast to embark on a new journey in Washington DC. This is my first time on this side of the country and am excited to travel and see all the East Coast has to offer.

Coming from 70-80 degree winters in Los Angeles, California, the climate has been the most changing factor as I finally get to experience a real winter. Left LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) with 76 degrees last Monday and arrived to DC to a temperature of 20! Had to ditch my Cali shorts, t-shirts, and sandals for the coats, scarves, and gloves!

But besides the weather and tree-hour difference, everyone has been very welcoming here in the nation’s capital, from the taxi drivers to my new ThinkTalk family, who has incorporated me into their great team of interns. I am excited to learn from their professional staff and get an insider’s perspective of the communication industry as well as provide you with everyday college networking advice. I am a graduating senior this year; therefore we are in this together so if I find something helpful, I will share it with you all.

I might get a little lost in this new adventure, as I did today on the subway as I got off in the wrong station and had to ask for directions, but that is what an adventure is all about. Leaving our comfort zone and exploring an unknown city to you.

I hope to have a great time here in the East Coast and if you all have questions about California, why not, feel free to ask how things are in the West Coast. Keep in touch and visiting our blogs as we will bring you some fresh quotes, tips, and advice that will have you THINKing and TALKing this 2012!
