Debt Free . . . Could it Be?

Both guys and gals can benefit from an article I just discovered in the September 2010 issue of Glamour Magazine, and no, it isn’t the “12 Naughty Questions You’ve been Dying to Ask” (Yes, Glamour, thank you, I do have twelve questions . . . “What’s for lunch?”, “What’s for dinner?”, “Who ate all of my Capt’n Crunch?”, “Does that cloud look like Christopher Walkin to you?”, “No?”, “You aren’t even looking, will you just LOOK at the cloud?”, “So, you’re saying no, it doesn’t resemble him at all?”, “So, maybe that’s just me?”, “Oh, well (pause)I have to pee now” (well that isn’t really a question), “Are we there yet?”, “Are we there yet?”, and finally . . .“Are we there yet!?!?!”“

No, no, no. I am referring to an article that features an interview with Zac Bissonnette, the author of the new book “DEBT-FREE U” beginning on page 289. After listening to his parents argue about money when he was in grade school, Zac vowed to handle finances differently when his time came. He managed to pay his way through college without help from his parents OR student loans.

Now with his book, he’s sharing the wealth of knowledge and experience, so you can kick your own butt into gear and start living debt free while saving for the future. I recommend checking out the actual book, but here are some highlights from the article.

Zac recommends:

1)      Not putting off saving for retirement.

2)      Talking about money and credit histories before a relationship gets too serious.

3)      Giving away money to good causes. (Yes, giving some of it away!)

4)      Remembering that the people you THINK are rich, probably aren’t. (We’ve all heard horror stories about defaulted loans, repo’ed cars, and foreclosed homes. Smart people spend money intelligently. )

Seem like something that could be helpful?
