The Admissions Process: If Only I Had Known!

Fear looms every year for those fateful students who take the leap toward further post-

high school studies: “the admissions process”. Questions such as “How can I compete?”
and “Why is this application so long” are among the most popular. These are similar
questions to the ones I asked when applying to undergraduate study.

Low-and-behold high school senior Tejasvi Gowda has provided an impressive article
about the admissions process itself. In his article, linked below, he lists the five things
that he wishes that he had known when applying to colleges. Briefly, he outlines the
importance of note taking during school tours coupled with well-written resumes,
required essays, and SAT scores. Overall, he stresses that fully understanding the school
you are applying to will greatly increase the likelihood of making a good impression
through your application.

As college students, do you agree with Mr. Gowda’s points on the admissions process?
Was the process as stressful as you expected? Or are schools just becoming more
competitive thus accepting fewer qualified applicants?
